Fishing is not a complex activity to practise provided you have the right gear- and maybe a lot of patience. As you aim to go fishing, you will need to be equipped with these things:

Fishing line

Fishing lines can vary from a simple string to cords specifically created for the purpose of achieving a better result. The choice of fishing line is often defined by the kind of fish you are aiming to catch. A 'leader' is sometimes attached to the line in order to make it more stable.

Hooks

Without the hook, every other gear [mentioned here] will be of no use in fishing. The hook [which is usually attached to the line with the bait on it] is what captures the fish. There are different types of hooks available to choose from.

Floats and Sinkers

The point at which you set the float determine how deep [into the water] your fishing line can go- the float does not allow the whole of the line to slip into the water- while the sinker guides the line (with the hook fixed) down into the water.

Fishing Reels

The fishing reel is the device that helps you to retrieve the fish that must have been caught by the hook. It also ensures that you fish with an appreciable level of accuracy.

Fishing Rods

There are basically two (2) types of fishing rods- the ones made from fiberglass and those made from graphite. Having a fishing rod with a good length enables you to get your line far into the water.
